Microsoft is working on a version of Windows 11 that breaks from the usual update cycle. Windows 11 Version 26H1 is specifically designed for Snapdragon X2 systems, offering enhanced performance with less power consumption.

In November, Microsoft released a test version for Windows Insiders. However, the full release date remained unclear. Now, sources at CES have revealed that the first PCs with Snapdragon X2 and Windows 11 26H1 will ship by April 2026.

What’s New in Version 26H1?

Version 26H1 doesn’t bring major changes compared to Windows 11 Version 25H2. Instead, it focuses on technical adjustments for Snapdragon X2 systems. These devices will feature up to 18 CPU cores while using significantly less power.

A major addition is AI integration. Windows 11 will feature an AI agent to optimize Copilot+ PCs, improving their performance and task efficiency.

AI Integration in Windows 11

This version emphasizes optimizing Windows for Arm-based devices. The AI system will enhance Copilot+ PCs, making them smarter and more efficient. Microsoft is focusing heavily on AI for future versions of Windows, signaling its growing importance in computing.

Despite these changes, Version 26H1 is not a major feature update. It’s a “silent update” that most users won’t notice unless they use the new Snapdragon X2-powered systems.

What About Regular Users?

Most existing Windows 11 users won’t notice any changes with Version 26H1. This update is mainly for new hardware. While it won’t introduce new features for everyone, it’s an important step in adapting Windows for next-generation AI-powered devices.

A more substantial update is expected in the second half of 2026. Windows 11 Version 26H2 will bring new features and improvements for all users, and it will likely be more noticeable than 26H1.
