Satechi Thunderbolt 5 CubeDock Overview
Satechi has launched the Satechi Thunderbolt 5 CubeDock, expanding its desktop accessory lineup. Built on Intel’s high-bandwidth Thunderbolt 5 standard, this dock combines fast data transfer, SSD storage, and charging capabilities. While designed with Apple’s Silicon Macs in mind, it is also compatible with other systems, offering flexibility for all users.
Key Features of the CubeDock
The CubeDock supports Intel’s Thunderbolt 5 technology, providing 80Gbps bi-directional speeds. This feature ensures quick data transfers and smooth high-resolution displays. With Thunderbolt’s Bandwidth Boost, the dock can dynamically adjust its bandwidth, prioritizing display output. This makes it ideal for monitor-heavy workflows.
For Apple Silicon Macs, the CubeDock enables dual 6K displays at 60Hz. Satechi claims the dock offers native support, removing the need for DisplayLink software.
Ports and Connectivity
The CubeDock offers multiple ports for versatile connections. It includes three Thunderbolt 5 ports, 10Gbps USB-C, and USB-A ports. Additionally, it supports UHS-II SD and microSD card readers and 2.5Gb Ethernet.
The built-in NVMe SSD enclosure supports PCIe 4×4 drives up to 8TB. With speeds of 6,000MB/s, it ensures fast storage access. Active cooling keeps the SSD running smoothly during extended use.
High-Wattage Power Delivery
This dock includes a 180W power supply, with up to 140W available for host charging via Thunderbolt 5. This meets the power demands of Apple’s latest MacBook Pro models. The dock also provides 30W of power delivery for connected accessories, ensuring steady performance.
