Apple has released iOS 26.3, bringing new features and updates to iPhone users. If you’ve already upgraded to iOS 26 or are considering making the leap, this latest update offers a few perks that might convince you to update. While the update includes some features specific to iPhone, other Apple devices, including the Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and the Vision Pro headset, mostly receive bug fixes and security improvements.
New iPhone Features in iOS 26.3
One standout addition is the Transfer to Android tool, designed to make switching between operating systems much easier. Located within the Settings app, this feature allows you to wirelessly move your apps, photos, messages, and more from your iPhone or iPad to a new Android device. While certain data, like health data and previously connected accessories, won’t transfer, this new option simplifies the process for users considering an OS switch.
For those sticking with their iPhones, Apple has reorganized the wallpaper categories. Wallpapers are now split into Astronomy and Weather sections. The Weather section introduces several new options, including additional widget layouts and font choices to help you better customize your lock screen.
New iPhone Privacy Features
In addition to visual changes, iOS 26.3 introduces a new privacy feature called Limit Precise Location. This feature gives users more control over what location data is shared with their cellular network. Instead of sharing your exact location, you can provide a broader area while still allowing emergency responders to access your location if needed.
This feature will first appear on the iPhone Air, iPhone 16e, and the cellular version of the iPad Pro M5. However, it will not work on all Apple devices, as it requires the Apple C1 or C1X modem. Moreover, each carrier must support this feature for it to function, and so far, only Boost Mobile has confirmed plans to support it.
Regional Features and RCS Messaging
While European Union users were expecting two new features, Notification Forwarding and Proximity Pairing, neither made it into the final iOS 26.3 update. These features, designed to help devices work better with third-party wearables and connect faster, may be included in a future update (likely iOS 26.4). It’s unlikely Apple will bring these features to the US, as they are required only in the EU.
A beta feature seen in iOS 26.3 hinted at support for end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging between iPhone and Android. However, there’s no confirmation that this feature is active in the current update, which suggests that Apple may be saving it for iOS 26.4. Apple confirmed in March 2025 that the feature is in development, and it will be available once carriers adopt it.
iOS 26.3 Update Across Other Apple Devices
In addition to iOS 26.3, Apple also rolled out updates for macOS 26.3, watchOS 26.3, tvOS 26.3, and visionOS 26.3. These updates mainly include performance improvements and stability fixes. No new features have been added to these systems in this update.
How to Update to iOS 26.3
