DevDroid Droid Box Revolutionizes Ground Drone Technology
Ukrainian defense tech company DevDroid has unveiled Droid Box, a groundbreaking modular control system described as a universal operating system for ground drones. The innovation aims to streamline the development and deployment of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), helping Ukraine’s defense sector build smarter and more versatile robotic systems faster than ever before.
DevDroid CEO Yurii Poritskyi said the new system accelerates the design and integration of battlefield technologies while creating a unified standard for controlling robotic platforms. “Droid Box is essentially the brain of a ground drone,” he explained, “responsible for communication, control, and integration of combat modules.”
Advanced AI and Multi-Channel Connectivity
The DevDroid Droid Box supports simultaneous connections through radio, LTE, and Starlink networks, ensuring reliable operation even in hostile combat zones. Its flexibility allows operators to control drones through tablets or gamepads. Built with artificial intelligence, the system can autonomously detect, track, and lock onto targets, giving it a distinct advantage in dynamic battlefield conditions.
The platform’s modular design also supports integration with DevDroid’s Wolly combat module, transforming simple logistics drones into fully capable reconnaissance or strike systems.
Adopted by Leading Ukrainian UGV Platforms
Several Ukrainian ground drones have already integrated DevDroid Droid Box into their systems, including:
- NUMO – a multipurpose tracked UGV for logistics and combat.
- Ravlyk (Snail) – used for ammunition delivery and casualty evacuation.
- Zmii (Serpent) – an armored robot built to resist FPV drone attacks and landmines.
- Bizon – designed for ammunition transport and fire support.
This milestone follows DevDroid’s earlier collaboration on Droid Raw 12.7, a reconnaissance and strike system co-developed with Ravlyk’s manufacturers.
By establishing a standardized AI-driven platform for Ukraine’s growing ground robotics sector, DevDroid Droid Box not only strengthens national defense but also positions Ukraine as a leader in the global unmanned systems industry.
